Restepo(2010) is movie documentary about a journalist who spend a year with second platoon, Battle Company, 173rd Airborne Brigade and chronicle the deployment of the American soldiers at one of the most dangerous outposts in Afghanistan, capturing the day-to-day reality of modern warfare as never seen before as the soldiers fight to build and maintain a remote 15-man stronghold they dubbed “Outpost Restrepo” in honor of their fallen comrade PFC Juan Restrepo.
The valley, an An al-Qaeda and Taliban stronghold Valley sees some of the fiercest fighting in the War on Terror. It’s perhaps the most intimate and unflinching examination yet of the processes of modern warfare — and an exhilarating, heartrending, profoundly moving film in its own right.
